Welcome to The Garden of Everyday Delight, a celebration of the joy to be found right under our noses. Join me and my dog Mr H as we walk the highways and byways near our home in rural Scotland come rain, snow or sunshine. Some of these are walks I must have done thousands of times. But there’s always something new, something to muse upon and be inspired by, or even get angry about. Life, love, loneliness, loss, the past, the present and the future – walking gives me time to think about all these things and more as the seasons pass. And given that these are ancient landscapes, there’s plenty of Scottish history to be uncovered too.

I love taking photographs, much to the annoyance of my family, so the ones in this blog were taken on our walks or in the local area unless it says otherwise.
